Cyberbullying is when an individual or group uses any form of technology to threaten, harass, embarrass or target another individual. The most common device for cyber bullying is the mobile phone; other devices include tablets, laptops and PC’s.
The phenomenon of social media opened the floodgates for cyberbullying; it can happen of Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and many more. Any place where you can be contacted by messaging or share information in a public or private space can be used for cyberbullying. This does also include texts and emails.
Any language or messages which denote a harsh or hurtful statement can be counted as cyberbullying. This can also include embarrassing or explicit photos and videos. Be aware also of fake profiles, these can be used anonymously and cause much damage.
Due to the nature of the internet, cyberbullying can occur 24/7. Cyberbullying is a scary topic but the best thing to arm yourself with is information. Finding out what it is and when it occurs is half the battle
