Coastal Processes

The sea erodes the coast in five ways – hydraulic action, compressed air, corrosive action, attrition and solution.  Features of marine erosion include bays, headlands, cliffs, caves, blowholes, arches, stacks and stumps.  Coastal deposition occurs when material which has been eroded by the sea is transported and deposited by the process of longshore drift.  Features of marine deposition include beaches, spits, bar, lagoons, to...
