Results Day will be a day that you will remember for years to come; the past 2 years worth of hard work and study has finally finished and the day you’ve been waiting eagerly/excitedly/nervously for the whole summer is finally here – it is Leaving Cert Results Day!
iRevise have created a guide for this.
Be positive
What’s done is done and there’s no point in worrying about it. Be positive! Smile.
Bring someone with you
Your friends and family will be there with you no matter what, so bring someone with you. A parent/guardian. A brother. A friend. Bring someone with you that can share in your joy and ease your nervousness. Having someone there with you to talk to would make the whole process easier!
Make sure your phone is charged and full of credit
There’ll be a lot of people eagerly awaiting news of your results, so don’t keep them waiting. Call them, text them, send a Snap, go on Facebook, Tweet, even take a photo of your results for your Instagram account! Make sure your phone has a full battery and has credit.
Got exactly what you wanted?
Excellent! Congratulations. Celebrate. Be happy. Relax. Take some time to figure out what you want to do next and be safe in the knowledge that you have so much open to you.
Didn’t get what you wanted?
That’s OK. Don’t freak out or panic, don’t fret; there are still so many options available to you. Speak to someone about your results – don’t get into a “highest points” competition with your friends and/or classmates. Take some time and figure out what you want to do next. We’ll discuss the options available to you –
Want to appeal your results?
This option is available to you, so absolutely do it if you feel it is needed. The first step is to request your papers from the State Exams Commission. Click here to find out more information about how to view your marked scripts.
Please note that only the scripts from the written and aural examinations are returned for viewing and that while viewing your marked scripts is free of charge, there is one to appeal your results and carries a fee of €40 per subject. Click here to find out more information about appealing your results.
Explore your options
As Shakespeare said, “the world is one’s oyster”, so take some time to figure out what you want to do. The Leaving Cert results do not have to affect your whole life and there is so much you can do – maybe you want to go to college straight away, maybe you want to work, maybe you want to take a year off, maybe you want to repeat the Leaving Certificate — whatever it is, do whatever makes you happiest. Talk to people about what you would like to do and explore your options.

Celebrating?
The Leaving Cert marks the end of 2 years of hard work and study, with all the pressure and stress you’ve felt during this time finally being lifted. Maybe you’re celebrating. Maybe you’re commiserating. Whatever it is, remember to take it easy. Maybe having a quiet night in with friends and family might be good, going to the cinema – there are so many other alternatives to going crazy. If you do decide to go out, make sure you take it easy. This is a night for celebrating and for creating good memories!
