1. Teach Someone Else
Talk to the people around you about what you are studying. As it was said before by Einstein, “If you cannot explain it simply, you do not know it well enough.” Put this to the test. Make sure you speak to as many people as you can about what you are learning and revising. The less someone knows about the subject the better; you can go into full detail and really explore your ideas. It will also help with sentence structure and articulation. You will surprise yourself with how much you know!
2. Study Groups
Revision is often considered a solitary activity and it does work for a lot of people but too much consistency can become boring and futile. Get together with a few others who take your subject, not even necessarily in your class. Pick a module or topic to talk through together, pool your ideas and help each other out. You can always reward yourselves with doing something fun after!
3. Memory Games
This may take a little bit of effort but it will inject a small element of fun in to your revision. Think of a game you like, such as ‘Pairs’. Now, swap the picture cards for flashcards related to your subject. It can be as detailed or simple as you like. Try to match the quotes/characters with the correct novel for example. You can also pair up with people and play things like hangman etc themed around your study.
4. Practice
Look at past exam papers and try answering a few questions. You don’t have to time yourself, or sit in silence or even restrict yourself the materials you need. Take it a step at a time, practice writing out your answers and then build up what you can. You can time yourself if you wish but just getting used to the possible exam questions and planning your answers will avoid a massive shock on the day.
